Download Article:
Chordoma is a rare malignancy originating from remnants of the primitive notochord along the midline craniospinal axis, usually seen as an osseous lesion of the skull base, spinal column, and sacrum. Several cases of intracranial intradural chordomas have been reported; however, we present a case of primary intradural chordoma along the cauda equina, which, on literature review, has not been previously described. Although this is an uncommon location for a chordoma, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of an intradural lumbar mass because chordoma has a high recurrence rate following surgery and may influence a surgeon’s approach to the lesion.
