Bilateral Lacrimal Gland Prolapse: An Underrecognized Entity on CT
Lacrimal gland prolapse is an underrecognized clinical entity that may be defined as significant herniation of the gland from the lacrimal fossa. Lacrimal gland prolapse needs to be differentiated from mass lesions in the preseptal location, and a correct diagnosis is key to avoid inadvertent
surgical excision of the lacrimal gland and to prevent complications related to surgery. Imaging has an important role in the diagnosis of lacrimal gland prolapse and the exclusion of mass lesions. In this case report, we described imaging findings of bilateral lacrimal gland prolapse and
the potential value of imaging in this condition.
