Underdiagnosed and Rare Toxoplasma Gondii Spinal Cord Lesion Simulating Cord Neoplasm
We present a case of toxoplasmosis of the spinal cord that mimicked a cord neoplasm and resulted in surgical resection. Recognition of this uncommon but treatable entity helps prompt initiation of medical therapy and avoids unnecessary surgery. In patients with spinal cord lesions, imaging of the brain, knowledge of the immune status, and CSF analysis are essential in narrowing the differential.
