Imaging Algorithm of Petrous Apex Lesions
The PA is part of the temporal bone lying obliquely in the skull base between the middle and posterior cranial fossae. The PA is involved in a wide range of pathologies, and imaging plays an important role in the management of these lesions. They have different imaging characteristics,
which can be confusing at times. Our goal was to provide an algorithmic approach, based on the MR imaging and CT appearances, to help differentiate lesions involving the PA.
