Primary Intracranial Fibrosarcoma Presenting with Leptomeningeal Enhancement

Primary fibrosarcoma of the CNS is extremely rare. We present a case in which the initial radiologic examination showed localized leptomeningeal enhancement, leading to an initial differential diagnosis of metastases or infection. After further neuroimaging studies showed a marked interval growth of a focal tumor, the diagnosis of intracranial fibrosarcoma was established. This case documents how a common pattern of abnormal enhancement such as localized leptomeningeal enhancement can, in rare instances, have a primary fibrosarcoma as an underlying etiology.
