The Transjugular Artery: A Rare Variant Carotid‐Basilar Anastomosis

We present a case of an extremely rare carotid‐basilar artery anastomosis that traversed the jugular foramen, here termed the transjugular artery. The case reinforces understanding of clinically relevant neurovascular embryology that involves the carotid and basilar arteries. Clinical syndromes can potentially result from compression of jugular foramen structures, including cranial nerve IX, X, or XI, or the venous sinuses.
